Wow. We got snow. I came home right before lunchtime Tuesday - what a great day to be in the new house. The kids are really enjoying things. Lots of room for their toys - and so many toys got unpacked from storage that it's like Christmas all over again.
We have a lot of gradework and we have the driveway that still needs to be paved - but we'll have to warm up first a little bit. really thankful that this didn't hold us up from moving in. Knox Co. Codes were really great to us.

WE FINALLY MOVED IN!!!
Our first night at the house was on Monday, 1/27. We got our occupancy approved on Friday and Shae got movers on the schedule for Monday. We worked really hard and got everything moved over, and Monday was our first night in the new house!! It was a lot of fun.

Tiled kitchen backslpash!!
Wow. This weekend we tiled the backsplash in the kitchen. It was an all day job on Saturday ... like, 11 hours. We got it done and it looks great. It's a grey glass tile. Was very frustrating to cut. I don't look forward to the next time we get to work with glass.
Sunday we cleaned the house - top to bottom. Vacuumed and mopped floors and changed air filters. We will probably have to do it again ... but, it's the first step to getting all of the construction dust out.
We are eagerly waiting good weather so that we can get the driveway and patios poured.

Wood Floors going in
We have worked like crazy. I am so tired. But, after heat turned on Friday - we started wood floors on Saturday/Sunday. We finished Sunday evening. I bought a nail gun from Amazon and it's been working awesome ... we're now professional wood floor layers. :)

We finally got GAS turned on!
So, really excited - KUB just showed up to put the gas meter in. Our HVAC peeps failed inspection a few times ... so- now we can get warmed up and get the main heat on.
So, when the contractor got there to dig things out - "One Call" apparently mismarked the water line and they busted into the line. Torrents of water exploded everywhere. KUB showed up and fixed the leak. Water was out all up the subdivision.

Grade work! Getting ready for utilities...
We have Dustin from DRW Excavating (he's awesome) digging the grade work. Below he has the water line, the sewer line, and electrical ditch (behind) dug and ready for inspection. We got a lot of stuff done today. KUB came by and actually put the gas line in ... but, we are still awaiting an inspection before we can get it turned on.
Randy and Jeffrey are working on the brick stairs ... should be done with them completely in 1 day. He's the man.
Our plumber, Jason Strickland, is great too. We called him and he came over to help because we needed the sewer line installed. We have to get everything inspected so that we can allow Dustin to cover everything up before we lose him again to another job. We are sweating it ...
The water line loops back in front of the house ...
We are really optimistic that we can get the gas/electric turned on by Friday. If that happens, we can heat the house and start wood floors etc. on Monday. It's stressful because we are fighting for everything we can get.
My friend Erin came by the house today - he really liked it. It was really good seeing him again.

Boys Bathroom and cabinets
Because of how unreasonable Home Federal is acting - the tail is wagging the dog. I'm having to completely screw up my schedule just so that I can get paid - so we're cherry picking stuff that can get done to appease the bank. To say the least, we are really frustrated.
One of the challenges is that we need to get wood floors put down - but to do that - we need heat. To get heat, we need final grade done in order to get the gas installed. To get final grade it needs to stop raining so that our excavator can do his thing. We also need electric (same challenge). So, this week we are pushing to get rough final grade done so that we can get the ditches dug for gas/electric/water. Then the grunt work begins - picking up crap around the house and cleanup.
Oh, I bought a sweet Dewalt table saw today too! Should be in the mail soon.
So have the tile done in the boy's bathroom ... and we are setting vanities today (Tuesday). It looks awesome.
We have the kitchen cabinets all set as well. We are so thrilled because tomorrow appliances are being delivered and installed (and, yeah, i have to install them - because the bank is acting like a spoiled child.) I would do that later, but I need the 3 points.
